2011 SportChassis P4XL gives Hummer lovers an alternative

We’ve seen so many cars with numerous tuning programs these days that it’s becoming really tough to figure out which ones best suit our tastes. But if you happen to be looking in the market for a luxurious sports utility vehicle that clearly has a name and identity all its own, then look no further than the SportChassis’ P4XL.
An intimidating exterior look belies the luxurious interior that it comes with; the P4XL is the personification of a rugged luxury, all built in one powerful package.
But power, so people say, also has its share of drawbacks, and the P4XL is no exception. The utility vehicle is powered by an 8.3-liter diesel engine that produces 330 horsepower and 1,000 lb/ft of torque, making it a nightmare for advocates of eco-friendly vehicles. If you’re not one of them, though, and you enjoy the metal-twisting power of what 1,000 lbs per feet of torque gives you, then give SportChassis a ring and they’ll hook you up with this beast on four wheels.
Details on the SportChassis P4XL after the jump.

2012 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO

Ducati will be unveiling the 2012 Monster 1100 EVO at the New York International Motorcycle Show (IMS). This new model will be the new flagship for the air-cooled Monster family and sales will begin in the Summer 2011 at a price of $11,995.
The 2012 Ducati Monster 110 EVO is powered by a 100 HP Desmodue Evoluzione engine - the most powerful air cooled Ducati ever. The new 1100 EVO is offered with the new "Ducati Safety Pack", a simple and effective combination of adjustable Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and ABS brakes designed to aid rider safety. Also the new APTC wet clutch which ensures quiet operation and long life will be on the equipment list.
The new APTC wet clutch works with a race-like ‘slipper’ system which reduces the destabilizing effect of the rear-end under aggressive down-shifting, and compared with other wet clutch used so far by Ducati, features an additional cush-drive damper mechanism which smoothes the repeated transition from drive to over-run during stop-start traffic.

2011 Harley Davidson Blackline

Harley-Davidson may already boast of a huge following, but one market that’s still ripe for the American original’s picking is the younger demographic that prefers the thrill of riding in bikes over the confines of a four-door sedan.
On that note, the motorcycle company has introduced their new Blackline motorcycle as part of their Dark Custom line-up.
The Blackline is powered by an internally counter-balanced Twin Cam 96B V-Twin engine rigid-mounted within the frame, mated to a six-speed Cruise Drive transmission with a smooth and low fuel tank. The bikes instrumentation is compact with the chopped fender and the narrow, split drag handlebar being designed in such a way that the bike’s sleek and slender built give off a sexy yet powerful appearance. Sort of like how Harley’s are best described.
The Blackline’s Softail chassis uses a rear-suspension control that’s provided by coil-over shock absorbers found below the bike’s powertrain. While its look may deceive us to think that the bike has a nostalgic look to it, its performance is anything but.
A host of other elements found in the Harley-Davidson Blackline include a horseshoe-shaped oil tank dressed in black and inspired by the 1936 ELsmooth. The bike also rides on 21 x 2.15 inch front wheels and 16 x 3 inch rear wheels, wrapped around Dunlop D402 MH90-21 front tires and Dunlop MU85B16 rear tires.
It may not scream of the bombastic and intimidating nature of bigger Harleys, but the Blackline does possess characteristics that make it an all-original Harley Davidson. Slender and powerful at the same time, the Harley-Davidson Blackline is the perfect bike for the thrill-seeking renegade in all of us.

Ralph Lauren’s Classic Car Collection To Go On Exhibit In Paris

A few months ago, we got a good look at fashion designer Ralph Lauren’s extraordinary garage/museum and all of the tear-jerking classics housed under its roof. Like most avid collectors that have the money to spend for these classics, Ralph Lauren’s line-up of cars includes some of the worlds most luscious and most expensive pieces of metal the automotive world has ever seen.
For the rest of us, the closest we can get to seeing these cars up close is if a collector was kind enough to have his prized pieces shown at an exhibit so we regular Joe’s can salivate over them. This is where Ralph Lauren comes in.
The world famous fashion designer is lending some of his most prized vehicles to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris for a special exhibit called “The Art of the Automobile: Masterpieces from the Ralph Lauren Collection”. The exhibit, which will run for three months beginning on April 28th to August 28th, 2011, will feature some of the world’s rarest and most valuable vehicles, including a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Scaglietti, a 1931 Alfa Romeo Monza 8C 2300, a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, and a 1938 Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe.
Just to give you an idea on how amazing Mr. Polo’s car collection is, those last two cars we mentioned above – the 250 GTO and the 57 SC Atlantic – are both worth an estimated $30-40 million. Each.
Check out a brief description of each of these classics after the jump

1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Scaglietti

Introduced back in 1959 at the Paris Salon, the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta - or "passo corto" - Scaglietti was designed by noted Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina. Built on a 2,400 mm chassis, the 250 GT Berlinetta passo corto became the successor of the Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France, and was noted for being a trailblazer when it comes to the Prancing Horse’s rich and esteemed history.
This particular model was the very first Ferrari production road car to be fitted with disc brakes as standard and, unlike the preceding 250 GT Berlinetta series, also became the first Ferrari to be made available in either left- or right-hand drive.
As recently as two years ago, a Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta passo corto was recently auction at the RM Auctions for $1.45 million.

1931 Alfa Romeo Monza 8C 2300

The 1931 Alfa Romeo Monza 8C 2300 won the Le Mans championship back in 1931 and 1934, establishing itself as one of the most successful racing cars Alfa Romeo has ever produced. It was so successful, in fact, that a version of this car also took first and second place at the 1931 Italian Grand Prix in Monza, thereby earning the ’Monza’ nickname that it has been associated with since then. All told, the car won over 50 races in its time, including another 1-2 finish at the Monaco Grand Prix, while being raced by some of the best race car drivers of that era, including Tazio Giorgio Nuvolari, Baconin Borzacchini, and Rudolf Caracciola.

1964 Ferrari 250 LM

Another designed classic by Pininfarina with coachwork by Scaglietti, the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM was limited to only 32 units. Just like its contemporaries, this particular Ferrari is noted for its extensive racing history, including a thrilling victory at the 1965 Austrian Grand Prix with driver Jochen Rindt behind its wheel. Today, the car is expected to fetch somewhere north of seven digits if and when one of the 32 models are auctioned off.

1962 Ferrari 250 GTO

Widely regarded as the greatest sports car of all time, the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO became the standard-bearer to which all other Ferrari models are compared to. The Italian automaker only built 39 models of this bad boy - 33 of the "normal" cars, three 330 LMB models, and three "Type 64" cars with revised bodywork - and has since grown in stature as not only the greatest sports car of all time, but also the most expensive one at that. An auction of the V12 302 horsepower machine held last May was sold by RM Auctions for an staggering $25 million.

1938 Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe

If you thought the $25 million price tag for the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO was jaw-dropping, there’s one more car that actually sold more than the iconic Ferrari.
The Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic Coupe.
Designed and built by Jean Bugatti with a goal of creating the ultimate high-speed grand touring car, the 57 SC Atlantic Coupe ended up being so much more than that. Only four of the this cars were made based on the "Aérolithe" concept car of 1935, which featured flowing coupe lines and a pronounced dorsal seam creating using Elektron and Duralumin for the body panels. Of the four models that were built, only two are still in existence today; the Williamson Bugatti which won the 2003 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and one that is in Ralph Lauren’s private collection.
So how much exactly did this model sell at an auction last year? Try $30-40 million.

2011 Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere

It’s a little strange, but true. Yamaha has announced the addition of a new color to their XT1200Z Super Tenere: Competition White. It’s not a new cycle by any means, but we guess purists will love the idea. This new snowy motorcycle will go on sale later this spring, but potential buyers can check it and other Yamaha bikes in Yamaha dealership right now. It seems the bike manufacturer has taken customers’ requests to heart and sent out a number of demonstrator XT1200Z Super Ténérés to dealerships for the customers’ review. This will enable riders to experience the versatile and exciting 1200cc parallel twin Adventure motorcycle for themselves.
Using the evocative Yamaha racing livery on the most contemporary motorcycle in the Yamaha stable, this model’s graphic treatment clearly celebrates the company’s 50 years in racing. The company’s adventure heritage was recently underpinned by Helder Rodregez, who secured a very brave 3rd position in the 2011 Dakar rally on his WR450F.
The 2011 Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere comes with traction control, ABS, and a linked braking system. For the 2011 model year, customers will not have to place a reservation on the internet as they have had to do in the past, making the purchase of this bike that much more pleasant.

2011 Jaguar XKR-S

It wasn’t that long ago when, in the middle of their brand reinvention, Jaguar released the refreshed XKR sports car at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. A year after the new XKR made its debut to the public, Jaguar is headed back to Geneva with another XKR model. Only this time, it’s the hot-as-a-scorching-summer’s-day XKR-S.

The new XKR-S features exclusive new paint colors that reflect Jaguar’s racing heritage. As with competition Jaguar cars of the past, the exterior of the XKR-S adheres to the principle of form following function.

Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s new Global Brand Director, describes the car as a "bold and exciting new model for Jaguar". He adds: "The styling of this car isn’t about image, it’s about true performance. Like other iconic Jaguar cars before it, the styling has been driven by geometry and aerodynamics for genuine design purity."

2011 MV Agusta F4 1078 RR 312 Edizione Finale

MV Agusta has released a special edition F4 in order to celebrate the end of a beautiful and very successful model. Called F4 1078 RR 312 Edizione Finale, this special edition will be limited to only 30 units, each of them marked by their custom quilted leather saddle and special identification plaque.
This special edition is built on the 1078 RR 312 version and comes equipped with a 1078cc engine that delivers an impressive 190 HP and 91.4lb/ft of torque. The motorcycle comes equipped with Brembo Monoblock radial calipers; after all you’ll be needing them as the bike can hit an impressive top speed of 194 mph.
Just as a reminder, back in 2010 MV Agusta revealed another special edition F4. This time is was called "Frecce Tricolori" and was limited to only 11 units.
Its true the bike in incredible beautiful, but it has one big problem: it comes in limited numbers!

Lamborghini Aventador Roadster rendered

The Lamborghini Aventador just made its debut a couple of days ago and already artists are at work rendering a different version of the sports coupe. What we’re looking at is an Aventador roadster version, and we like what we see. Don’t get too excited though; an actual production roadster version isn’t expected until 2014.
The Aventador Roadster will look similar to the coupe version, except that the engine cover and roofline will be adapted to fit the roadster style. This rendering shows it in a silky, pearly bright-white finish with a two-tone black/white leather interior, making it look absolutely stunning.
The Aventador is powered by a new 6.5-liter V12 engine with an AWD layout that produces 700 horsepower and 479 lb/ft of torque. This engine hits 0-60 mph in just 2.5 seconds while blasting off a top speed of 217 mph and a redline of 8,250 RPM. With a total weight of 1575 Kg, it will deliver a power to weight ratio of 2.25 Kg/hp.

2011 Brabus 700 Biturbo Mercedes SLS AMG

The Geneva Motor Show is now upon us, and just as the sun is bright and the wintertime is as cold as the other side of the clouds, German tuning firm, Brabus, has finally unveiled their tuned-up SLS AMG masterpiece.
Calling it the BiTurbo 700, which was taken after the performance upgrades done on the car, Brabus seems to have done its homework quite well with their work on the Mercedes supercar. Not only does the car generate more power than the stock SLS AMG, it also has plenty of aerodynamic upgrades that make the car look sportier and far more aggressive. Brabus also did well for themselves in giving the SLS a matte gray exterior finish, adding style and class to an already sporty and powerful machine.
We’ve seen a lot of works done by Brabus over the years, but we can honestly say that this particular program ranks right up there with the Rockets.

2011 Mercedes SLS AMG "MKB P640" By MKB

Since it was introduced in 2009, the Mercedes SLS AMG has become a favorite among tuning companies, so much so that we’ve seen enough unique iterations of the Mercedes supercar to last us a few lifetimes. Not that we’re complaining because we frankly won’t get tired of ogling over this supercar.
Recently, another tuning company joined the parade of modified SLS AMGs, proving that you can never have enough of something as sexy and beautiful as this galloping, gullwing hyperbeast.
For MKB, subtlety is the name of the game, so unlike some of their more bombastic contemporaries, the German tuning firm went about and gave the SLS AMG a performance package that can go pony-to-pony with anything its contemporaries have to offer despite not having a whole lot of styling changes done on the car.
Thanks in large part to a software upgrade as part of their ’Stage One’ program, MKB ratcheted up the Mercedes supercar’s 6.3-liter V8 engine from the standard 571 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque all the way up to 638 horsepower and 710 Nm of torque. The result is a car that takes off from 0-62 mph in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 205 mph.
On top of the impressive performance upgrade, MKB alse dressed up the SLS AMG with a set of their own Alpha III wheel set that comes with 20" Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
The whole package isn’t as elaborate as the offerings of other tuning firms, but be that as it may, there’s something to be said about an aftermarket company that prefers to leave the flash and pizazz at home in favor of all-world substance.
